Kenya
The Masai Mara needs no introduction, it's the place most people picture when they think 'Africa'. What surprises them is how much more alive it feels in person. This five-day journey puts you right in the middle of it, tracking the Big Five with guides who've spent years learning every inch of the reserve.
We collect you from your hotel in Nairobi and head to our briefing point on Muindi Mbingu Street, where you'll meet your guide and the rest of the group. Then it's a scenic six-hour drive south to the Masai Mara, rolling past the Rift Valley escarpment, tea farms, and small towns. You arrive in time for lunch at the camp, then head straight out for your first game drive as the afternoon light turns golden.
Early breakfast, then out into the reserve for the whole day. We pack a picnic lunch and spend the hours tracking wildlife across the Mara's open plains, all the way to the Mara River, where the border with Tanzania's Serengeti runs through the grass. This is where you might witness a river crossing if the migration is in season.
After an early morning game drive to catch the predators before they rest up, we visit a local Maasai community. Watch traditional dances, browse handmade jewelry, and hear firsthand how these incredible people have lived alongside Kenya's wildlife for generations. We then drive back toward Nairobi with a stop for lunch along the way.
